mapix is a photo sharing site designed to overlay interesting images onto a map indicating where the photograph was taken. Access is open to all but your usage is subject to the following terms and conditions which must be adhered to at all times. Any failure to follow these rules may result in your account and any contributions you have made being suspended or erased entirely without notice. Additionally your IP address may be banned or we may take other measures to prevent you from accessing the site.

You must not post any information which may be considered to be offensive, inflammatory, libellous, abusive, false, of a sexual nature, threatening, adult content, or abusive of an individuals privacy. All content posted should be considered to be suitable viewing for all including children of all ages.

You must only post information for which you are the copyright owner, or for which you have written approval of the copyright owner or which is in the public domain. By posting information to mapix, either photographs or other data, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless mapix, the owners of mapix, any subsidiary companies, mapix's Internet hosting provider and any other third parties involved against any legal issues that may arise as a result of your posting.

Whilst we respect your privacy we reserve the right to disclose your contact details and any other information we hold on you in the event of a request from a state law enforcement agency. We will notify you that this has occurred unless we are legally unable to do so.

We record your IP address when you access this site, this helps us with site maintainance and helps with the protection of your account. If you login to the site we will also set a cookie to identify you, this will be stored on your computer but can be removed with your cookie management tools.

You must not use a webcrawler, such as wget, to crawl this site. If you are interested in bulk access to the data please contact us and we may be able to arrange a solution to your requirements.

You are stongly advised to choose a secure password (for example 8 or more characters including a mixture of upper and lowercase characters and special characters). We will store you password securely but we cannot be held responsible if you account is hacked especially through the choice of a weak password.

mapix is a user contributed site and whilst we try to monitor the content on the site it is not possible for us to manually check all information that is uploaded. If you find a comment or photo that is objectional please report this through the 'Problem?' link, this will bring it to our attention and we will address it as soon as someone is available to review it. Please be aware that at times your request may take a while to process. If you have any other concerns please contact admin@mapix.co.uk directly. Using the 'Problem?' link where possible will get your report dealt with more quickly that using the email address.

mapix is intended as a project to build a photographic map of the UK and Ireland, it is not intended to be used as a generalised photo sharing site, if you want to share all your photos we recommend a service like flickr. Photos that add no benefit to the project may be removed to save space if they are rated poorly by the community.
